6 The Community Banker www.mibonline.org FIRST CITIZENS BANK OF BUTTE Featured Member Bank F irst Citizens Bank of Butte was founded in 1977 by a group of local businessmen to fill a niche in the community. While not the only financial establishment in Butte, it was and remains today, the only locally owned and operated Community Bank in Butte, Montana. The bank was purchased in 1987 by Anaconda Native Casey Reilly, CEO and his wife Jackie Reilly, who was raised in Butte. They saw it as the perfect opportunity to move closer to their roots and continue Casey’s passion for community banking. Additionally, there is the family aspect that plays a part in this Community Bank as well. Casey’s wife, Jackie, handles the Banks Human Resources and IT Departments. His Daughter, Lindsey Reilly, is the Banks’ compliance officer, BSA Officer and Director of Marketing and his Daughter-in-Law, Katie Reilly, serves as the Banks’ customer service manager and a loan officer. Banking roots run deep for this family-owned bank. First Citizens Bank’s board of directors are also community-mind- ed individuals who are invested in Butte and its future. Their backgrounds range from Law and Accounting to Agriculture and Livestock purchases and sales. The board of First Citizens Bank has its ears to the heartbeat of Butte and its needs and strives to meet the needs of the community with creative strategies for expansion and growth. If you ask, Casey will tell you the biggest change he has seen since beginning his career in banking is the technology advances. The bank currently offers the latest in digital banking options for its customers using online services and mobile applications. However, Casey and the staff will tell you that nothing beats the personal connections and interactions that develop within the bank. Lindsey agrees that the best part of the job is the customers. “After nearly 20 years of working at First Citizens Bank of Butte, my absolute favorite part of the job is the customers. Many of them I have known since I started my career and I enjoy seeing them come in the bank still today.” Community Banking also means that First Citizens Bank is invest- ed in their community through charitable work and donations. From local 4H, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Kiwanis and the Mariah’s Chal- lenge, the Bank sponsors and participates in many aspects of public service. Annually the bank adopts local families for holiday giving and donates to the local police and firefighters’ associations to fur- ther their good deeds. The bank is also a big sponsor and fan of our local sports teams. The bank annually supports its local Butte High and Butte Central Athletes as well as the Montana Tech Orediggers. Casey says the most significant difference between us and the big banks, is we just get to know our customers better, on a more personal level, which allows us flexibility in finding the right prod- ucts and services to meet their individual needs. Looking forward, Casey Reilly is optimistic about the future of community banking and the legacy that he will leave for his children and grandchildren of being good stewards in our community of Butte and always look- ing for an opportunity to give back.
