(UBBI) and United Bankers’ Bank (UBB) Board of Directors. Mike Johnson brings more than 25 years of professional experi- ence in security risk management. In his role as Director of Graduate Studies for the Master of Science in Security Technologies degree program at the Technological Leadership Institute (TLI), Johnson develops, teaches and administers graduate-level courses in security technologies innovation, management and leadership. He also participates in the development and delivery of customized short courses and professional development programs in response to in- dustry needs. Before joining TLI, Mike served as CISO and Operations Risk Director at Bremer Bank and as an examiner with the FDIC.” Curt Johnson has served as President and CEO of Cherokee Bank in Cherokee, IA, since January of 2016. His more than 22 years in Iowa’s banking industry has included management experience as senior vice president at City State Bank in Norwalk and 19 years in various positions, including chief risk officer and president at Bank Midwest in Spirit Lake. Curt’s dedication to the banking industry in- volves board and committee positions with Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corp. and the Iowa Bankers Association’s Finance and Management Committees. In his community, Curt sits on the boards of the West- ern Iowa Technical Community College, Cherokee Country Club and Cherokee Area Economic Development Corp. Johnson is also active with Cherokee County Promise and Cherokee Rotary. “Mike has gained broad skills in the areas of IT and information se- curity risk management in a heavily regulated industry,” commented Dwight Larsen, president and CEO of United Bankers Bank. “Curt’s dedication to the Cherokee community and Iowa banking commit- tees makes him a perfect fit for UBB’s core values. WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS MIKE JOHNSON AND CURT JOHNSON DEAR COMMUNITY BANKING PARTNER I write this note shortly before publication of our Spring 2020 edition of the Community Banker. As you surely noticed from the cover, I am sorry to write that we have decided at this early date to cancel our 2020 convention and tradeshow. I know this decision is disappointing, for as demonstrated by the pages within, the 2020 convention was shaping up to be a great one. I can assure you the cancellation decision was not an easy decision for the Association to make. But, in light of the continuing public health concerns related to the Covid-19 epidemic, this was the right decision to make. The good news is that the Association has come to an agreement with the Northern Hotel in Billings to host our 2021 Convention once again at that venue. Therefore, please consider this a postponement rather than a can- cellation. On behalf of MIB’s Board and Officers, we look forward to seeing you in the Magic City in July of next year to resume our annual festivities. In the meantime, be safe and be well. CONVENTION CANCELED
