7 Winter 2018 The Community Banker tors of the various state associations share my enthusiasm for commu- nity banking. I am grateful to partner with folks from other banking associations who also strive to make a difference for the communities they serve. I am confident that the experience and knowledge to be gained by serving in this position will carry over to my work on MIB’s behalf. And I will keep you updated, throughout the year, about my activities as CCBA Chair. I have already received a bucket full of positive feedback from our members and guests regarding next the venue for next year’s MIB state convention. Again, the venue will be the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula. I am currently putting together the speakers, activities and agenda for next year’s get together. It’s going to be another great convention with great opportunities for both fun and professional education. For our vendors and associate members, I expect to have our 2018 exhibitor and sponsorship kit and information ready by the end of January or early February. In the meantime, feel free to contact me to reserve your booth before the trade show space fills up. We filled our vendor space early last year so get your place reserved now. I am also pleased to announce that MIB will again by partnering with Young and Associates in 2018 to offer our community banking compliance program. This program has proven to be immensely pop- ular with those banks who do participate and with the regulators who regulate them. I encourage you to look into participating in our CBC program if your institution is not presently doing so. Again, on behalf of the MIB Board and myself, happy new year. We hope that 2018 will be the best year yet for you. We also trust you will keep that new year’s resolution you made, which only an estimated 8% of you will. We know we will keep to our resolution, which is to continue faithfully serving Montana’s community banks and bankers as we did in 2017. James Brown Executive Director We stand behind your SBA loans.
