As part of the Association’s extensive financial support of the MSU Community Banking Program, MIB provided scholarships to three deserving students in order for them to intern at member banks this summer. The 2018 interns are Sidney Schwan, Janae Hayes, Hailey Blackwell, Andrea Fairchild, Meagan Minas, and Blake Mattfeldt. MIB is excited about helping to develop this program from the ground up, and we are hopeful that the program will accomplish what we created it to do: develop a pool of young, qualified talent to work at your bank upon their graduation from MSU. The inability to attract young people into the community banking industry, particu- larly for those banks located in less populated areas of the state, has been identified by the MIB membership as an area of need for our member banks. We are hopeful that the formation of the MSU Com- munity Banking Program will help address this issue. We will once again be hosting our MSU and UM football tailgate parties this year. Our Griz game will be the Drake game on Septem- ber 8th. Our event location will be right next to the foot bridge. Our MSU tailgate party will be held on Saturday, October 13th during the conference game against the University of Idaho. MIB is excited to host these two great member events again in 2018. If you will be attending one of these games, please stop by the MIB tent and have a beer and brat on us. As always, those of us here at MIB and the MIB board appreciate your membership in the association. For those of you who attended the convention in Missoula, it was great to see you and to spend time with you. For those of you who did not attend the convention, you missed out on great educational programs and excellent networking opportunities. As such, once again, I encourage you to attend the 2019 state convention to be held in Butte.
