13 Winter 2017 The Community Banker VALLEYBANKOF KALISPELLBOWLS FOR FLATHEAD VALLEY FUNDRAISER O n Sunday, November 13, 2016, five Valley Bank employees, Syn- dey Ebert, Dallas Heine, Becky Shoemaker, Juli Koubey , and Jamie Ol- sen, joined in on the fun of bowling for Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowling for Kids’ Sake. This local fundraiser benefitted Flathead Valley residents by helping the younger generation to pair with a “Big” brother or sister to mentor them. The bowling alley was packed with people in super hero costumes to indulge the theme of the event. Valley Bank of Kalispell’s team even participated in the fun, and donated over $500! This fundraiser was for a great cause, and we were happy to be involved. The Kalispell Chamber Unwind was held at Falkor Defense in Kalispell. In attendance were Juli Koubey, Mark Hensley, Sydney Ebert, Dallas Heine, Becky Shoemaker, and Jamie Olsen. Sierra Baker continues her dedication to the youth of the valley by vol- unteering at Trinity Lutheran School about once a week. She has been volunteering with this group of kids for the past four years in math, English, and more. Valley Bank of Kalispell’s third annual Black Friday Event was a great success, and a number of Valley Bank employees donated their time over the Christmas season to being Salvation Army bell ringers. Barb Kimbell and Jamie Olsen attended the annual Flathead Building Association dinner on December 8th. Thank you to all the people who helped with the Kalispell parade: Barb Kimbell, Dallas Heine, Carrie Goudette, Kenadie Goudette, Kharysa Bucher, April Moser and Jamie Olsen. M issoula, Montana – First Montana Bank announces that Board Direc- tor, Wayne Haines, will retire on December 31, 2016, after 58 years of dedi- cated service to the organization. The Board expresses its tremendous grat- itude to Mr. Haines for his years of service and leadership. “We will never be able to replace the wit, wisdom and camaraderie that Wayne has brought us all these years,” said Joe Kesler, President and CEO. Adding, “We will always be in his debt for 58 years of dedicated service to fulfilling the virtuous calling of a community banker.” Wayne Haines joined the staff of First State Bank of Libby in August of 1958. In 1984 he became President of First National Bank of Libby and a member of the Board of Directors. During his tenure the bank has grown almost tenfold in size and expanded to five additional market areas. Among his many ac- complishments, in 1984 he provided the first loan to a group of hunters from Troy, Montana, which they used to create the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Mr. Haines served well and faithfully on the Board of Directors for 32 years including over a decade of service as Secretary and Treasurer of the Board. His distinguished efforts have contribut- ed greatly to the health, profitability and success of the Bank and improved the lives of many western Montanans. To recognize Mr. Haines for his lifelong dedication to the bank and memorialize the significant contributions he has made to the organization, the Missoula conference room in which the Board meets will now be known as the Wayne L. Haines board- room. Wayne will be remembered for having led the company with enthusiasm, professionalism, skill, kindness and a great sense of humor. WAYNE HAINES TORETIREAFTER 58 YEARSOF SERVICE A fter last fall's MIB Board Meeting, Kenny Martin and I head- ed north from Red Lodge to Denton. We Pheasant hunted for two days and harvested eleven Roaster Pheasants with Kenny's dog "Jack" and my dog "Nyack." It was some of the best hunting as we were only one short of a full limit (only short one because Nyack decided to break his leg. He is all healed now!) We also hunted a day for antelope and I was able to fill my tag. We also over-nighted in Lewistown and Malta, making for a fun trip. We also had a lot of discussions about the MIB, community banking, and living in Montana. All were positive and we agree we are so lucky to live in Montana, have jobs which develop so many great relationship, and have the abundant opportunities to live life to the fullest. - A.J.
