12 The Community Banker www.mibonline.org Like many Montanans this past fall, Rikki Serfoss of MIB member Prairie Mountain Bank in Great Falls went hunting, with a very successful trip! N ovember 2016 was a very cold and windy month for Montana hunters, but it didn’t keep me from the out- doors. My husband Alan had put myself and his buddy in for the Special Elk Draw Permit in the Highwood Mountains near Great Falls. We were the lucky two out of a total 75 tags given for that area. Hunting camp was already in place and my husband, his son Stratton, and best friend Jim Bubb were already scouting the area. I got the call and the next morning I was up at 3:00 a.m. for the drive to meet them and then head into the mountains. It was a short drive through private land and then by foot we headed in before sunrise on USFS Land. It was quite a hike and a long day, and with just an hour of shooting light left, our good friend spotted the herd three ridges over from where we were. We grabbed our rifles and packs and hit the trail at a fast pace. I thought I might die before I hit the last ridge and MONTANA OUTDOOR ADVENTURE: 2016, A MEMORABLE HUNTING SEASON!
