Pub. 4 2016 Issue 2

7 Summer 2016 The Community Banker overlooking the National Mall. The group discussed with our congressional delegation numerous issues of interest to the industry. These issues included, but were not limited to: (1) eliminating farm credit services tax subsidies and prop- er formulation of the next farm bill credit programs; (2) keeping the credit unions within their mission and taxing credit unions if they continue to operate as banks; (3) adequate examina- tion and supervision of the too- big-to-fail financial institutions; (4) TILA-RESPA implementation and regulatory consequences; (5) identifying theft and which entity should bear the risk of the same; and (6) the increasing regulatory burden being placed on community banks and the consequences of the same, namely in terms of increased consolidation in the industry. As noted, ICBA’s Washington Policy Summit is the most effec- tive way of directly communi- cating our positions on federal policies to those in charge of making those policies. Your voice is important and needed. If you are in interested in par- ticipating in or have questions about the 2017 Washington Policy Summit, please feel free to contact me. I will be happy to answer your questions and share my experience with the trip. On behalf of all of us here at MIB and on behalf of the MIB, we thank you for your contin- ued support of the Association. We very much look forward to seeing you at next year’s annual MIB convention, which will be held in Helena at the Great Northern Best Western Hotel on July 27-29, 2017. We have not hosted a MIB convention in Helena for many years, and we are excited about a return to the Queen City of the Rockies. We are working to provide a golf tournament, world-class fly fishing, a float on the Missouri River, and historical tours as part of our lineup of activities. Thank you for being a part of MIB, and we hope you have a great rest of your summer.
