18 The Community Banker www.mibonline.org MIB News MIB NEWS MIB Announces Recipient of 2016 Graduate Banking School Scholarship I n order to help our member banks provide the highest quality education to their bank employees, MIB is pleased to offer a $2,500 scholarship-level banking school of their choice for the 2016 year. The applicant must have five years minimum banking experience and be currently employed by an MIB member bank, among other quali- fications. Applications were reviewed by Angela Murdo of Anderson ZurMuehlen, a disinterested third party, who selected the winner based on qualifications. MIB is pleased to announce that Jeremy Morgret of Stockman Bank in Billings has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 MIB Graduate Banking School Scholarship. Jeremy is Vice President and Assistant Chief of Branch Supervision, and his responsibilities include assisting the market presidents with growth, development, personnel, pay, and credit-re- lated items. Jeremy also serves as a member of Stockman Bank’s Executive Committee, and has worked with Stockman Bank since 2011. He has been accepted to attend Pacific Coast Banking School this year. Jeremy Morgret was born in Rapid City, South Dakota and gradu- ated from Sturgis Brown High School. Jeremy enlisted in the Army Infantry in 1996 and served three years in Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Hood, Texas. After Jeremy’s time in the service was completed, he and his fam- ily moved to Billings, where he attended Montana State University - Billings earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduation, Jeremy began his banking career with First Inter- state Bank in Downtown Billings. He worked in various capacities ranging from a Teller to a Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer. In 2007, Jeremy and his family relocated to Polson, Montana where he was the Branch Manager of the bank. In 2011, Jeremy and his family moved back to Billings, where he accepted a position with Stockman Bank as the Branch Manager of their new Downtown Billings branch. In November 2015, he was promoted to Assistant Chief of Branch Supervision. Jeremy has served in Board roles and Chairmanship positions for several organizations which include the Downtown Billings Partner- ship, Billings Head Start, the United Way of Yellowstone County, St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Polson Chamber of Commerce, Flathead Lakers, and Polson Rotary. He is currently a member of the Billings Rotary Club. He was also awarded the 2011 MSU-Billings Outstand- ing Alumni Exceptional Achievement Award for his professional accomplishments and community involvement. On his application, Jeremy wrote: “I am very interested in gaining a well-rounded knowledge from a technical, macro, and leadership perspective that will add value to Stockman Bank. I believe PCBS is the best banking school option to help me achieve my goals and benefit our local community bank. I have served in various line and leadership positions during my banking career, which has provided me with valuable experience.” Bill Coffee, CEO of Stockman Bank, was glad to endorse Jeremy for the scholarship, noting that he is “heir apparent” to the SVP, Chief of Branch Supervision, in which Jeremy will provide leadership and direction to Stockman Bank. “This scholarship will assist in provid- ing Jeremy with the knowledge and tools to keep building on our community banking model,” said Coffee. MIB was glad to read of Jeremy’s experience in the community banking industry, his community service, his glowing recommenda- tions, and his future aspirations. We know he will continue to be an asset to Stockman Bank and to the industry, and that Pacific Coast Banking School will help him meet his goals. MIB Hires New Assistant J im Brown, Executive Director of the Montana Independent Bankers, is pleased to announce the hiring of a second associa- tion management assistant. Wilson Ilgenfritz joins Jim and Laura on their association management and legal work, and you will likely be seeing him at future MIB events. Wilson is a Helena native and Capital High School graduate, and he brings to the James Brown Law Office, PLLC (Jim’s consulting company) over five years of administrative experience gained while working for the Montana Departments of Labor and Health and Health and Human Services. He is also a Veteran of the Unit- ed States Air Force. Wilson attended the University of Montana majoring in Music/Sociology and holds an Associates in Munitions Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. With the addition of a second assistant, we look forward to continuing to expand and improve the services MIB provides our members.
